THE FIND

This 1987 Corvette came home for $1,500 with a blown head gasket.

It wasn't bought as a collector car. It wasn't a restoration project. It was simply a broken Corvette that still had plenty of life left in it.

And without knowing it at the time, Rescue #1 had begun.

THE RESCUE

It didn't need to be perfect. It needed to run again.

The blown head gasket meant the top end had to come apart. The heads were rebuilt, new gaskets went in, and the Corvette was brought mechanically back to life.

Then came the details — weatherstripping, tired carpet brought back with dye, and the little things that made an old Corvette feel like a car again instead of a project.

Piece by piece, the broken $1,500 Corvette was becoming a Corvette again.

THE RETURN

Back where it belonged.

By March 2008, the Corvette was running, driving, and ready for its next chapter.

What started as a $1,500 car with a blown head gasket had been brought back to life and returned to the road.

It sold for $3,900.

At the time, it was simply a fun project and a good deal.

Years later, it became something more — Rescue #1.
